Services for Divorcing and Divorced Families

JFS is committed to helping families weather the trauma of divorce with minimal long term negative consequences to the children. In order to make the therapeutic opportunity at JFS optimal, therapists must be able to work with children without concerns about potentially being called to court. As a matter of policy, the records and treatment of children from divorced and divorcing families will not be provided except under extraordinary circumstances. All custody agreements must be provided at entry into treatment, and parents sharing custody will both be contacted for permission to treat. Both parents will be informed about treatment issues. Payment arrangements are made in accordance with divorce agreements for the payment of medical care. In the event that one parent is unable to make his/her financial commitments, it is that parent’s responsibility to be in touch with the therapist and make alternative arrangements.
