You Can Still Enroll in Health Insurance for 2024 – January 1st Deadline Extended!
December 31 was the official deadline to enroll in health coverage beginning January 1. However, Get Covered New Jersey (GCNJ) has announced that if consumers are still seeking coverage beginning January 1, they can call the Consumer Assistance Center by Saturday, January 6, and a representative will assist in applying for and backdating coverage to January 1, 2024. The GCNJ call center can be reached at 833-677-1010, Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 8 PM.
The 2024 Open Enrollment period will continue until January 31, 2024. You must enroll in a plan by January 31 to begin coverage on February 1. If you miss the Open Enrollment period, you will most likely not be able to get a private health insurance plan at any point during 2024, excluding “extenuating circumstances,” even from an insurance broker.
