Our Approach
To protect the therapeutic relationship and keep treatment focused on the child’s emotional well-being, JFS follows specific policies when providing services to children of divorced or divorcing parents:
Both parents must provide consent for treatment when they share custody.
Both parents are kept informed about treatment-related matters.
A copy of the current custody agreement must be provided when treatment begins.
Treatment records are kept confidential and are not released except under extraordinary circumstances.
Payment arrangements are handled according to the parents’ divorce or custody agreement. If a parent is unable to meet their financial responsibility, they should work directly with the therapist to make alternative arrangements.
These guidelines help create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where the focus remains on the child’s needs and well-being.
